Ladies, we need sponsors for our Christmas contest. Each sponsor will have their name, business name and url posted daily with the question of the day. Sponsors are eligible to win prizes by receiving an entry into the contest for every prize they sponsor.

We would like to give away a prize every day from December 1st - 25th in the form of gift certificates for services, products and cash. Each prize must be worth at least $25 but can be more. You can sponsor one day, a week or even every single day of the contest.

Our first sponsor, yours truly, is donating a $50 gift card to the retailer of the winner’s choice but we need more prizes, not just cash awards.

Think of it. Your name and business information posted daily with a question of the day for 25 days just for sponsoring our event. You can list the event on your website and receive additional entries for anyone sent by you. Codes will be assigned to be sent in with entries from our sponsors sites.

Not only can you contribute, promote and help WBO grow but you can get advertising for your business sent out to our members. I’m going to be posting information on various sites about our promotion to bring in new people and I hope you will all do the same.

If you want to be a sponsor, just let me know by Thursday, November 30th. I can be reached by email at gazelle@womenowners.com or by telephone at 678-423-3187. Prizes will be distributed from the sponsor directly to the winner so nothing needs to be sent in to participate other than your contact information and prize. Take care, have a great weekend and God bless.

I am inviting all of our Star & Premier members to join me in creating a Business Plan. I will be posting small assignments each week that can be worked into your existing schedule. I will be posting the assignments in our WBO Group Networking Forum.

The real value of doing a business plan is not having the finished product in your hands; rather, the value lies in the process of research and thiking about your business in a systematic way. Tha act of planning helps you to think things through thoroughly, to study and research when you are not sure of the facts, and to look at your ideas critically. It takes time, but avoids costly, perhaps disastrous, mistakes later.

I look forward to working with you each week as we create these very important plans for our businesses. Please feel free to post your questions and comments in this forum.

BUSINESS: Women’s Web site promotes networking

By KATHERINE ECHOLS
Chronicle Correspondent

Anna Campbell, an entrepreneur, created the Women Business Owners Web site in 2004 to focus on the specific needs of women business owners.

Because it’s online, the site acts as an around-the-clock networking event accessible anytime from anywhere.

“I find a lot of (networking) groups have a narrow focus, and I wanted one group for women business owners around the world, for women to come together, network, get referrals and communicate with other women who have walked the same path,” Campbell said.

Two years after its start-up, the Web site now has more than 2,000 members worldwide with a membership that includes women from a variety of business backgrounds and experience. Campbell keeps the site going with the help of about 12 volunteers.

Three levels of membership are available, ranging from free to a $50 annual level that includes a personalized press release.

Women Business Owners provides links to online chats, downloadable seminars, features articles and advice on several aspects of owning a business from networking, marketing, budgeting and accounting to tips on positive thinking.

Most of the women love that they can network at their convenience, Campbell said. And those 20-30 minutes of networking, available at any time of the day or night, can be worth four to five hours of weekly networking luncheons, she said.

But Campbell doesn’t dismiss the importance of being actively involved in local groups, and she said that on-line networking or marketing shouldn’t replace networking groups, morning coffees or traditional business marketing.

“People need to market in person,” she said. “If you want your business to succeed you need both.”

Campbell, an entrepreneur, once owned an online candle business, and now she and her husband Brean, of Humble, own Humble Print and Fold, an in-house printing company.

“It’s amazing what you can do if you put the time and energy into it,” Campbell said. “You need a strong desire to own your own business. You can’t just think it’s just going to happen.”

She adds that success doesn’t happen overnight but requires research, patience, time and of course, marketing.

“If it’s something you really want to do, then do it, and find support groups to help support you and train you and never stop advertising or marketing,” Campbell said.

A natural outcome of a site that encourages an exchange of ideas and advice is the mentoring that occurs.

While she was building her own businesses, Campbell said that she found value in the relationships that she created with other business owners.

Along the way, she built relationships with other business owners, an aspect of entrepreneurialism that’s vital to building a success business.

“Everyone needs a mentor,” Campbell said. “Especially women … women are very community based and personal.”

Because women deal with so many aspects of life and have so many things pulling at them all the time, they need someone to fill those voids that their busy lives inevitably leave, she said.

“They need someone other than a family member, someone who is strictly there to support them.”

The Women Business Owners’ Web site is http://womenowners.com.

What on earth is Shari’s Priceless Nugget this month?

Since this issue has been pretty much dedicated to web copywriting, blogging, and networking, I thought I’d share a few places I frequent, and some women who are making a solid impression in online marketing.

Sorry guys, we’re tired of the message from the front of the room… We don’t really value “exploding businesses”, or doing “killer presentations”, or getting together to see who’s got the biggest whatever…

What we really value are the relationships we form when we don’t have to compete with one another. That’s not to say we’re not competitive, because you can bet your favorite Barbie Doll we’re in the business of winning… just not winning at any cost.

For years, I’ve been a fan of Kim Klaver aka Ms Stud. Harvard and Stanford educated, this spunky woman has single-handily changed the lives of many failing marketers… men and women. She’s done that with humor, and brutal honesty.

Over the years, Kim has had MLM911.com which has more recently become Banana Marketing. You can’t go wrong when you accept Kim’s advice and institute her scripts.

What if you could get whom you want? And not whom you DON’T want. What if you never have to hear “no” again? Click here to find out! More recently, I’ve met Anna Campbell, founder of Women Business Owners. This is a very fast growing network of women who own both traditional (as in brick and mortar type), and online businesses, as well as women who are independent reps for several different network marketing companies. Anna and her husband own the “Humble Print and Fold”, an in-house printing company in Humble, TX.

I met Anna on Ryze, which is a networking community for all kinds of professionals. If you can’t find a group to join… maybe you should be a hermit.

Once I met Anna, then Denise Michaels came into the picture. She’s the author of “Testosterone-Free Marketing”, and leader of the Real Women - Real Business Network on Ryze. Now Denise’s site is for women who are really in business… not just for the love of the product. You’ll find a lot of help with pricing, goal setting, organizing your work, etc. Profit is good, and so is sharing your knowledge in this group.

As if that’s not enough, in one of our Women Business Owner’s Networking Chat’s I met Amanda Hamm who owns “The Mommy Neighborhood” a network for mothers who are getting their businesses up and running. She’s currently updating her entire site, so you may encounter a hiccup or two. My hat’s off to this young mother. She’s done all the programming herself.

If you’re not yet a member of Ryze, simply reply to this newsletter with “I want to join you at Ryze” and I’ll send you an invite. Then you too, can find just the right network for furthering your business. Guys, there are hundreds of networks here for you too… I’ll be happy to invite you to Ryze.

Until next month, may all your leads be real… your prospects be the best quality, and your customers be the luckiest people around.
